ATC Readback Trainer

Master radio communications before you ever key the mic

The hardest part of early flight training isn't flying the airplane—it's talking on the radio while flying the airplane. This app lets you practice ATC communications until they become second nature.

What makes it different:

Built by a student pilot who knows exactly what's hard about radio work. Every scenario uses real phraseology. The audio sounds like actual ATC. And you get instant feedback so you know what you missed.

Perfect for:

  • Pre-solo students building confidence
  • Pilots preparing for towered airport operations
  • Anyone rusty on radio procedures
  • CFIs looking for student practice tools

Features:

  • 500+ randomized ATC scenarios
  • Covers ground, tower, pattern, and CTAF operations
  • Realistic radio-processed audio
  • Instant readback validation
  • Progress tracking and weak area identification
  • Works offline (perfect for studying between lessons)

Airport Day Trip Finder

Your guide to the best $100 hamburgers and cheap fuel

Every pilot has asked: "Where should we fly today?" This app answers that question by showing you great day-trip airports filtered by what actually matters—fuel prices, on-field restaurants, courtesy cars, and real pilot reviews.

Why I'm building this:

Because looking up fuel prices across five websites, checking if the restaurant is still open, and reading through outdated FBO reviews shouldn't be the hard part of planning a fun Saturday flight.

Features in development:

  • Smart search by distance, fuel price, runway length, and amenities
  • Pilot-submitted reviews and tips ("The pie is worth the taxi fees")
  • Quick links to weather, NOTAMs, and frequencies
  • Bookmark your favorite spots
  • Plan trips with friends (shared wishlists)
  • "Surprise me" feature for adventure flights

Current Progress:

  • Database of 5,000+ US airports compiled
  • Fuel price API integration complete
  • UI/UX design 80% complete
  • Beta testing planned for March 2025
  • Launch target: Spring 2025

What's Next

I'm always thinking about what pilots actually need—not flashy features, but practical tools that make training easier and flying more fun.

Some ideas I'm exploring:

  • • Weight & balance calculator that's actually pleasant to use
  • • Cross-country flight log that syncs with your logbook
  • • Aviation weather briefing that highlights what actually matters

Have an idea for an app? Notice something missing in your training? Let me know.
